Since 24 February 2022, Russia's war in Ukraine has dramatically changed the situation in Europe. For the former Soviet republic of Moldova, member of neither the European Union nor NATO, there is a real fear of the fighting extending to Transnistria, an area of Moldova controlled by pro-Russian separatists.
