School, the Irish comeback

In Ireland, one in four pupils living the poorest regions benefits from a programme to promote equal opportunities at school. On a voluntary basis, teachers liaise with the families of children in difficulty, providing support and help. Since the programme was launched fifteen years ago, not only have the results obtained by children at these schools improved, but Ireland has moved up in international rankings.
