Auschwitz: guardians of memory
27 January 1945. Red Army soldiers entered Auschwitz-Birkenau camp in Poland. 1.3 million people died at this camp, including 1.1 million Jewish people. Eighty years later, Auschwitz has become the symbol of the Shoah and the extermination of close to six million European Jewish people.
