Spéciale expos, avec Sara Ouhaddou, Kamal Kassar, Bérénice Saliou
Exhibition special, with Sara Ouhaddou, Kamal Kassar, Bérénice Saliou
Our relationship with the world, memory and history, gender and feminism, ecology... The "Global(e) Resistance" exhibition at the Centre Pompidou reveals, for the first time, the works of some sixty artists directly involved in the torments afflicting our times. Amongst them, Sara Ouhaddou has taken her inspiration from Moroccan craftwork for her series entitled "Woven/Unwoven". An exhibition to see in Paris from 29 July to 4 January 2021.
From Iraq to North Africa via the Gulf, the exhibition "L'Orient Sonore" (Sounds of the Orient) offers an immersion in a world of voices and instruments. From the record labels of yesterday to short videos on the social networks, it takes us on a voyage to rediscover forgotten heritage and endangered musical traditions. We will be online (Skype) from Marseille with Kamal Kassar, exhibition curator and responsible for setting up the AMAR foundation for storing and researching Arab music. Open to the public until 4 January 2021 at the Mucem.
"Croyances, faire et défaire l'invisible" (Beliefs, making and undoing the invisible), at the Institut des Cultures d'Islam (Institute of Islamic Cultures), is an exhibition to discover in Paris until 2 August. Amongst the works on display is the series "Ovine Condition - Celebrities", by Nabil Boutros. The photographer took studio portraits of ewes, lambs and rams. A way to question the relationship between the viewer and the living world, whether raised for food or given sacred status. Artistic director for the ICI, Bérénice Saliou talks to us about the works, which can also be viewed on the website.
