Set centuries ago, this is the initiation journey of a young Bambara man, born into a family of powerful sorcerers. At its heart lies a fierce struggle between father and son for control and knowledge.

The film opens with a blinding, all-consuming light flooding a sun-scorched, wind-swept savannah, marking the beginning of Nianankoro’s spiritual quest. As he walks the path toward wisdom, a force that both empowers and dooms, the landscape transforms. In a greener, tree-lined oasis, he finds love - and a child born too soon.

The story moves onward to the cool-toned rocky hills of the Bambara, the setting for the final chapter: a reckoning with his father and the coming of the Apocalypse.
