Breakwaters: the memory of wood
An army that watches over Saint-Malo's ramparts and seawall, a scene depicted on every picture postcard: for two centuries, 3,000 timber breakwaters have protected the city from the waves. Today many are damaged and need replacing, a project expected to take several months. But what to do with the old ones, natural works of art carved by sea and salt?
