Just after the publication of the novel "The Life Before Us" in 1975, Romain Gary uses his second cousin to play the part of Émile Ajar, his pseudonym. Media, editors and readers all fall for the ruse. But a young student, Adèle, has doubts. She heads to Paris to confront him.
