Gastronomy Recipe of the month: Picnic special!

Sunny days are finally here again, and with them picnic season is upon us! TV5MONDE has put together a light and chilled menu to share with your family and friends. All you need to do is grab your picnic hamper, guitar / book and head off to the park!


Salad with baby spinach, strawberries and fresh goats cheese


Ingredients : (Serves 4)

  • 400g baby spinach
  • 350g strawberries 
  • 250g goats cheese
  • 50g chopped pecans
  • 2tbsp balsamic vinegar 
  • 3tbps olive oil
  • Salt and pepper


Method :

  • In a bowl place the baby spinach and strawberries (halved) 
  • Crumble the goats cheese and add it to the salad 
  • Dry fry the pecans for a couple of minutes until a bit browned and add to the salad 
  • Mix together the olive oil and balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper and pour over the salad just prior to serving 


Pasta with tuna and mozzarella 


Ingredients :

  • 400g pasta (fusilli, farfalle, or other shapes) 
  • 250g cherry tomatoes
  • A few basil leaves
  • 125g mozzarella balls  
  • 200g tinned tuna
  • 1tbsp olive oil 
  • 1tbsp balsamic vinegar  
  • 1tbsp herbes de provence (mix of  herbs such as Bay leaf, thyme, fennel, rosemary, chervil, oregano, summer savory, tarragon, mint, and marjoram) 
  • Salt and pepper


Method :

  • Cook the pasta in salted boiling water for 9-11 mins according to pack instructions, drain then rinse under cold water
  • Cut the cherry tomatoes in two and the mozzarella into small cubes 
  • Add in the drained tuna and the basil 
  • Add the olive oil and balsamic vinegar 
  • Add the herbes de provence, salt and pepper and serve


Cherry clafoutis


Ingredients :

  • 50g butter
  • 300ml milk 
  • 80g plain flour
  • 60g sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • A pinch of salt
  • 500g Cherries (stones removed) 


Method :

  • Preheat the oven to 210°C 
  • Beat together the eggs and the sugar with a pinch of salt 
  • Gradually add in the flour, then add the melted butter, then the milk 
  • Put the cherries into a quiche dish then pour over the mix 
  • Cook for around 35 minutes
  • Enjoy!
