Events 22nd edition of French Language and Francophonie Week!

From 18th - 26th March 2017 the 22nd edition of the French Language and Francophonie Week will take place, presented by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication.

Organised every year around 20th March 20 (International Day of La Francophonie), this year will bring together lovers of the French language around more than 1500 events: workshops, meetings, conferences, exhibitions and shows, to let the general public discover the diversity and modernity of French language and culture today.

Saturday 18th March at 5:30pm (GMT London time)

Ten French people from around the world, whether public figures or anonymous citizens, talk about their sense of national belonging. They discuss their road to naturalisation, their commitment to France and their view of French identity. With Rama Yade, Marek Halter, Samira Draou, Enki Bilal, Edouard Martin and Eva Joly.

Saturday 18th March at 6:30pm (GMT London time)

2005. Michaëlle Jean becomes governor general of Canada. A socially-committed journalist and world citizen, she devotes her mandate to young people, women and culture... 2010, the earthquake in Haiti brings her back to her home country in tragic circumstances. An intimate portrait of this stateswoman, currently secretary-general of La Francophonie.

With its separate history, language and culture, does Quebecois identity today still account for much? Cultural diversity and globalisation are challenging ancient certainties and forcing people to redefine themselves. Can we still spot certain typically Quebecois traits?
