  • Oscar-winning Spanish director Pedro Almodovar has been named President of the judging panel for the 70th Cannes Film Festival in 2017 “For its 70th edition, the Festival de Cannes is delighted to welcome a unique and hugely popular artist. His works have already carved out an eternal niche in the history of film,” the festival said in a statement. The Festival de Cannes will take place from Wednesday 17th to Sunday 28th May 2017. The Official Selection and Members of the Jury will be announced in mid-April. Read more here 

     

  • Denis Villeneuve and his film L'arrivée nominated for 8 Oscars

    For the 89th Academy Awards (The Oscars) due to take place on Sun 26th Feb 2017 the film L'arrivée / The Arrival by famous Québec filmmaker Denis Villeneuve has received 8 Oscar nominations, Best Film, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay to name a few. Denis Villeneuve is likely to become the first Québécois to win an Oscar for Best Director and Best Film. However, competition is tougher than ever, as he will have to compete with several directors including Damian Chazelle and La La Land, as well as Mel Gibson and his Hacksaw Ridge in both categories.
