Enjoy and discover the richness, diversity and creativity of French cinema with the French Comedy Film Festival "Oh la la" in Israel produced by Eden Cinemas from 14th - 29th Nov 2016.
A selection of 17 films and four French short films will be screened in cinemas all over Israel - Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, Sderot, Holon, Herzliya, Rosh Pina, in Ashdod Globus (French Space) Cultural Centres in Savyon, and Tivon and for the first time in the Yes Planet cinemas Ayalon (Ramat Gan), Rishon Lezion, Beersheba as well as Cinema City at Glilot and Cinema Park Raanana.
Specially selected films demonstrate how French cinema is full of inventiveness and genius in the world of comedy! Don’t miss the previews of "Cigarettes and hot chocolate" by Sophie Reine, her first comedy film which is at once funny and subtle starring Camille Cottin and Gustav Kervern. Also "Lolo" by Julie Delpy starring Dany Boon who is struggling with his future stepson, "Saint-Amour" by Benoît Delépine and Gustav Kervern with Gerard Depardieu as his truculent self alongside Benoît Poelvoorde, "9 month Stretch" by Albert Dupontel starrring Kiberlain, "The cow" by Mohamed Hamidi, an irrestible comedy "Radin!" by Fred Cavayé which welcomed over a million and a half spectators in France (box office October 12, 2016) and many other films including "The great mop", "Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra" and " An Indian in the city "..
French director Eric Lavaine, the guest of honour this year, will open the Festival on 14th November 14 at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque with his film "Back to my mother" that attracted 2 million viewers in France. He will also attend the screenings on 15th November at the Jerusalem Cinematheque and 16th November 16 at the Cinematheque Haifa.
The Festival is also dedicating a tribute to Franco-Icelandic director Sólveig Anspach, who died last year, with the award-winning films "Lift up your hearts!" 2008 Cesar for best first film and again in Cannes 2016 with “The aquatic effect", plus "Queen of Montreuil" and also "Lulu femme nue" (2015 César for best adaptation) interpreted beautifully by Karin Viard.
The director Laurent Tirard will also be present with "A man enough" to be presented at the Festival Closing on 29th November at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque and 30th November at the Jerusalem Cinematheque.

Every year on 20th March, countries around the world celebrate Francophonie through cultural events honouring the French language.This year the Institut français and Francophonie UK present the national final of the Joutes Oratoires Lycéennes, concluding months of French debating competitions involving 100's of 6th form students across the UK. This event is followed by a screening of the documentary Speak-Up (À voix haute – La force de la parole) by Stéphane de Freitas. The event starts at 3:30pm on 20th March, free but booking is required
